Christian Camp: Closer to God, Away from the Noise

Today's youths are probably the most distracted. With the onslaught of smart phones, social media, and pop culture, today's youngsters have a very hard time achieving inner silence. Their rooms alone are full of all kinds of diversions that leave no room for the spirit to calm down.

However, there is a space where one can find peace and commune meaningfully with others. One may lose his inner silence anywhere, but thanks to Christian camps, he or she can regain it. These camps serve as spiritual retreats that allow an individual to dwell in God's presence through the solitude provided by the place.

A successful Christian camp is one wherein an individual voluntarily allots time– typically a whole week– to unwind in a refuge away from the distractions of daily life. The setting plays an important part in the experience. The scenery of a picturesque place like Wellsboro, for instance, can enhance the serenity of the atmosphere.

Camps are usually led by directors that guide the group throughout the sessions. They aid in keeping one's thoughts away from unhealthy thinking patterns and distractions. Food plays a part too since it serves as something that can both physically cleanse and nourish any hungry body during the retreat.

A retreat should be what its name suggests: an escape, and a withdrawal from things that matter less than Him.
